6 months in Italy

6 weeks to go and then my husband, daughter Ruby and I will be boarding a plane for Rome. This year from April to October we will be living in Italy to experience the Italian way of life. We will be living in Lucca near Florence for the first 6 weeks before heading for a few weeks in Vicenza not far from Venice. From there we travel to the seaside region of Liguria famous for its Cinque Terre. Here we will taste the small village life in Porto Venere and Camogli, both little fishing villages featuring brightly painted buildings on the sea front. From here we spend July in Bergamo and Lake Como and finish the month off with a Birthday celebration in Paris. August will include a road trip through the middle of Italy, stopping off in an island village of Porto Santo Stefano before settling in gorgeous Amalfi for the final 6 weeks. Then it's arrivederci via the wonderful Rome for our last days.
Throughout our stay we will be exploring the many wonderful hikes as well as the Slow Food industry. Founded in Italy in 1986, the slow food movement grew from a concern over the rapidly growing fast food industry. Slow food is all about eating foods that are Good, Clean and Fair. It respects tradition and culture, supports good health, protects the environment and helps the economy. I plan to share information on places to eat, drink and buy food that support these philosophies and then bring some ideas back to Australia.
Stay tuned for more...
